PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for determining gas appliance, capable of determining a gas appliance and detecting gas leak, when the gas consumption amount is small. SOLUTION: This device for determining gas appliance connected to a gas supply line comprises a pressure detecting means for detecting the gas pressure, a flow rate detecting means for detecting the instant flow rate of gas, and a gas appliance determining unit for determining the gas appliance in use, based on the detected pressure and flow rate. When the first phenomenon in which the flow rate is proportional to the square root of the supply pressure with respect to variation in supply pressure is detected, the gas appliance determining unit determines a gas stove, when the third phenomenon in which supply pressure varies in a direction opposite to the flow rate with respect to the flow rate variation, after the occurrence of the flow rate occurs continuously, and determines gas leakage, when the third relation is not occurring continuously.
