PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic probe capable of sufficiently improving the reaching depth of ultrasonic waves. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic transducer 30 of the ultrasonic probe 11 is formed of a compound piezoelectric body 42 composed of a piezoelectric body and a polymer material, and is fixed to a backing material having a curved surface shape so that the focus positions F<SB>X</SB>and F<SB>Y</SB>of ultrasonic waves in the longitudinal direction (Y axis direction) and a transverse direction (X axis direction) of a sheath 17 roughly match. The reaching depth of the ultrasonic waves can be improved. Thus, ultrasonic tomographic images of higher image quality are acquired and accurate medical diagnosing is provided.
