TELECOMMUNICATIONS CARRIER DETECTION AND REPEATER MODULE

The Telecommunications Carrier Detection and Repeater Module (TCDRM) is a portable, non-intrusive, telephony device that facilitates communication between a phone and a communications hub or server. Said device is installed on the phone li ne between the central office and the phone (preferably between the demarcation point a nd the phone). It listens to the phone line and when predetermined set of numbers i s dialed the device does not interfere with the phone call and is designed not to corrupt or degrade the POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) signal nor higher band (20 kHz to 1.5Mhz digital data traffic). If another set of predetermined numbers is being dialed it temporarily blocks the tones from making it to the phone company's central office by recording the tones produced by the phone and storing it in its internal memory. While thi s is happening the TCDRM will dial a predetermined phone number (i.e. a 10-10 or 1- 800 number) as well as any access codes required (for authentication purposes). These numbers can be remotely altered by the long distance provider for security o r maintenance purposes. Once the phone number is dialed and the access code is accepted the tones of the original long distance number will be relayed from the modu le to the central office and the phone call placed. Said device also has built in security features to verify the authenticity of the originating call. Effectively this allows the phone user to dial a long distance number witho ut having to dial additional numbers or typing in access codes.
