PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for electro-slag welding, which method can secure a weld penetration with a specified width in a head side member of a T shape groove portion. SOLUTION: Steel patches 4 having a notched portion are arranged on both sides of the leg member of the T shape groove portion so as to face the notched portions to each other. The notched portion has such a shape as to give a required penetration width to the head side member of the T shape groove portion. Preferably, a wedge shape has an angle smaller than 45°and a groove depth smaller than 15 mm for usually used RG: A to B. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
