<p>An estimation method for direction of arrival and means thereof, wherein the estimation method comprises, calculating an output power for each of a set of multiple beams steering in different pointing directions, at all delays of the multipath components; selecting candidate delays from the calculated output power according to a criterion; for each candidate delay, correlating the output power in the beams with pre-calculated power distributions corresponding to a set of beams impinging on the array from different pointing directions, to obtain correlation results; selecting a maximum value from the correlation results, and resolving the argument of the maximum value as the direction of arrival. The estimation means including a 2-dimensional multipath searcher and beamformer, an estimator for resolving the direction of arrival, and a correlation operator. Thereby a trade-off between complexity and the direction of arrival estimation resolution can be obtained and calculation loads are decreased.</p> |
