The invention concerns genus Cimicifuga extracts, and in particular of Cimicifuga racemosa, which are suitable for producing a pre-formulated agent for selectively treating and/or preventing diseases of the genitourinary system caused by sex hormones. Furthermore, the inventive extracts are suitable for treating and/or preventing post-menopausal infections of the bladder, and for treating benign and malign prostatic hypertrophy.
