PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial agent which is excellent in antimicrobial effects and is suitably used in a food field. SOLUTION: This antimicrobial agent comprises thiaminelaury sulfate, lactic acid and/or sodium lactate. The antimicrobial agent is preferably powdery. The antimicrobial agent exhibits a synergic antimicrobial effect which is not obtained, when the laury sulfate, the lactic acid, and the sodium lactate are each singly used.
