PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope which has no drop in the function of an optical fiber bundle otherwise caused by the dew condensation and clouding by completely eliminating the infiltration of steam into the end face of the optical fiber bundle under the sterilization environment of an autoclave. SOLUTION: In the endoscope, the end part of the optical fiber bundle 4 is securely inserted into a cylindrical fiber bundle cap 5 made of a metal and a cover lens 7 is fastened on the tip face of a metallic fiber receiving frame body 6 with a through hole so formed therein as to get the fiber bundle cap 5 securely inserted into it. The fiber bundle cap 5 and the cover lens 7 are joined airtight onto the fiber receiving frame body 6 with respective inorganic materials. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
