PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To notify occurrence of transmission error exactly in safety to a user when it occurs while preventing leakage of image data. SOLUTION: The network facsimile comprises a section 112 for encrypting image data according to the sending end, a communication section 106 for transmitting the image data encrypted at the encrypting section 112 to the sending end, and a section 108 for detecting transmission error occurring at the communication section 106. When transmission error is detected at the error detecting section 108, the encrypting section 112 encrypts the image data according to a preset place for notifying error, and the communication section 106 transmits an error notice including the image data encrypted at the encrypting section 112 to the place for notifying error.
