PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time for stopping applications and reduce the cost and complexity relating to migration when migrating a storage system and its replica to a new system. SOLUTION: A virtualization system is introduced between a host and a storage system. Applications on the host are stopped or suspended, or whether the applications are stopped or suspended is checked. States of a primary volume and a secondary volume, which is a replica of the primary volume, are checked and whether they become same or not is determined. A primary virtual volume to be mapped to the primary volume is defined, and a secondary virtual volume to be mapped to the secondary volume is defined. Replication is defined from the primary virtual volume to the secondary virtual volume. Replication is started with a NOCOPY option, and then the applications are restarted or a message is sent indicating that the applications can be restarted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
