The invention relates to an apparatus and a process for treating a complex mixture of hydrocarbons containing undesirable olefinic components, in order to remove mono-olefins and diolefins in two stages and to separate a desired key component from the mixture. Said process provides for treating the hydrocarbon mixture for hydrogenating the diolefins under mild conditions, in a reactive distillation column having a primary catalyst bed, a secondary catalyst bed and a sidedraw, then separating the olefin-depleted key component and the lighter fractions in a second reactive distillation column having a primary catalyst bed, a secondary catalyst bed and a sidedraw, the light fractions being removed at the top of the column, while the olefin-depleted key component is hydrogenated under much more severe conditions to remove the mono-olefins. |
