PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for joining the respective ends of precursor fiber bundles to each other causing no yarn breakage or the like in making a flame-resistant treatment and applicable to fiber bundles with many filaments as well, and, in its turn, to provide a method for continuously producing flame-resistant fiber. SOLUTION: The method for producing flame-resistant fiber comprises joining the respective ends of the filaments of carbon fiber's feedstock fiber (precursor) to each other using aromatic polyamide fiber's spun yarns and then making a flame-resistant treatment of the resultant precursor. In this method, the joining method comprises binding the end of one side precursor's filaments with one end of the spun yarns and then binding the end of the other side precursor's filaments with the other end of the spun yarns, or comprises knitting one end of the spun yarns in the end of one side precursor's filaments and then knitting the other end of the spun yarns in the end of the other precursor's filaments.
