PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an imaging apparatus capable of picking up the image of an object while chasing it automatically in which a user can obtain the chasing state of the object easily even if the imaging apparatus is located remotely from the user. SOLUTION: When the imaging apparatus picks up the image of an object while chasing it automatically such that the imaging direction is controlled in accordance with the detection results of an imaging object in a video image picked up, chasing state of the imaging object by that control is judged, and the judgment results is presented by a light emitting device 216 in a mode different from that of a device for displaying a video image so that the judgment results can be recognized even by a user in a remote place, the user can obtain the chasing state of the object easily even if the imaging apparatus is located remotely from the user.
