A system and method for potentiostat calibration includes conductive substrate (52), model film (50) placed on substrate (52), electrolyte (37), and a potentionstat for obtaining calibration data from tests conducted on model film (50). Electrolyte (37) is disposed at a first side of model film (50) opposite substrate (52), and in electrical contact with model film (50). The potentiostat includes working electrode (32), reference electrode (34), and counter electrode (36). Working electrode (32) is electrically connected to substrate (52), and reference and counter electrodes (34 and 36) are positioned at electrolyte (37).
