摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder injection type internal combustion engine capable of positively igniting fuel-air mixture even in the case where a stratified charge combustion method is performed. SOLUTION: An ignition plug 7 is equipped with a central electrode 71 and a ground electrode 72 forming a predetermined ignition region 73 between the central electrode 71 and the ground electrode 72, and ignites fuel-air mixture including fuel directly injected from a fuel injection valve 6. The ignition plug 7 is also equipped with a gas flow velocity attenuation flow passage 76 formed sandwiched by at least two wall faces 74, 72b which are opposed to each other and which are on the further upstream side of the air current of the fuel-air mixture immediately before ignition of the fuel-air mixture than the ignition region 73. Therefore, the fuel-air mixture flows through the ignition region 73 after its speed is reduced by the gas flow velocity attenuation flow passage 76. As such, the flow velocity of the fuel-air mixture flowing through the ignition region 73 is reduced, and thereby the fuel-air mixture can be positively ignited. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
