PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of moving a reflection type sensor and a transmission type sensor in a width direction of a continuous label body without moving a movement mechanism itself for moving the reflection type sensor and the transmission type sensor to the width direction of the continuous label body, and capable of dispensing with a movement space of the movement mechanism itself. SOLUTION: In the printer, an upper sensor carriage 31 stored with either a light receiving element or a light emitting element of the transmission type sensor and a lower sensor carriage 32 stored with either the light emitting element or the light receiving element of the transmission type sensor are arranged in the upper and the lower perpendicularly to a transferring passage of the continuous label body 4 respectively, and are slid to the width direction of the continuous label body respectively accompanied by rotation of an upper shaft 24 and a lower shaft 25 having a spiral groove of the same direction and the same pitch, respectively.
