The flexible disk (2) is for a polishing machine (1) for polishing smooth surfaces and has a textile, elastic overcoat (3) of cotton towelling sheet. The overcoat may also be a mixture of cotton and plastic fibers, micro-fibers, or towelling weave. The overcoat can be formed as a circular disk (5) with an opened-out edge area (6) and a rubber draw piece.
