PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bolt joining method for a building structural material capable of easily performing mounting operation for a joining supporting member in bolt-joining the building structural material and mounting the joining supporting member at an accurate position in an accurate orientation. SOLUTION: In this joining method for the building structural material, a countersunk recessed part to which the joining supporting member can be fitted is formed at a bolt joining part of either or both of a base material and a splice plate. After the joining supporting member is fitted to the countersunk recessed part, the base material and the splice plate are tightened each other with bolts to bolt-join the building structural material.
