<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of banding in an image forming apparatus having transfer and fixing processes. <P>SOLUTION: The distance between a transfer position and an intermediate conveyance means is made slightly smaller than the shortest image-receiving medium; the distance between the transfer position and a fixing part is made slightly smaller than the longest image-receiving medium; the image receiving medium is conveyed with the intermediate transport means in a holding state, when an image is formed on the shortest image-receiving medium; and the image-receiving medium is conveyed with the intermediate conveyance means in an open state, when an image is formed on the longest image-receiving medium, and the image-receiving medium is conveyed with the intermediate conveyance means in a holding state, after the end of transfer, when an image is formed on a middle-length image receiving medium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
