PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector for improving a method for interrupting an operation signal continuously outputted based on a measured value captured from a detected object. SOLUTION: The detector has an excessive level detector 12 for periodically capturing the quantity Q of detection from a power generator 10, outputting a detection signal D when the quantity Q of detection attains an operation value A and interrupting the detection signal D when the quantity Q of detection returns to a return value B. The excessive level detector 12 interrupts the outputted detection signal D in response to a time since the quantity Q of detection returns to the operation value A after the quantity Q of detection attains the operation value A, and reduces a return time until the outputted detection signal D is interrupted in response to an increase in a deviation between the quantity Q of detection and the operation value A.
