A boil control 2 responsive to the operation of a thermal sensor 6 for switching off the heating element of a liquid heating vessel in response to boiling of liquid therein and impingement of hot vapour on the thermal sensor, the boil control 2 including a manually operable trip lever 7 enabling the on/off condition of the heating element to be selected, and wherein a further thermal sensor 6 is provided which is arranged to be selectively couplable to the trip lever 7 for operating the same to switch off the heating element, the further thermal sensor 6 being responsive substantially directly to the temperature of liquid being heated and being operative at a sub-boiling temperature. A vessel incorporating such a control 2 can be of the cordless type in which case selectably operably controls (see 62 and 63 of fig 11A) can be provided on the vessel power base (60 of 11A) for selecting between sub-boil and boil modes. |
