A process for producing a rubber composition containing nonconjugated polyene copolymer (A), softener (B) and diene rubber (C), characterized in that the process includes the step of mixing copolymer composition (I), the copolymer composition (I) comprising 100 pts.wt. of nonconjugated polyene copolymer (A) of -25 to 20‹C glass transition temperature (Tg) being a random copolymer containing 96 to 70 mol% of structural units derived from alpha-olefin (A1) and 4 to 30 mol% of structural units derived from nonconjugated polyene (A2) and 1 to 100 pts.wt. of softener (B), with diene rubber (C) optionally together with softener (B).
