PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector for preventing a transformation of a case due to heat radiated from a lamp unit. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal projector comprises the lamp unit 4, and a cooling unit provided with a cooling fan 42 for cooling the lamp unit 4. The lamp unit 4 comprises a lamp and a reflector, and is stored inside of the synthetic resin-made case 7. The case 7 comprises a plurality of side walls for surrounding the rear face of the reflector, and the cooling unit is attached to the first side wall 174. Two air intake holes 44a and 44b for introducing air discharged from the cooling unit in the case 7 are opened on both sides including a center shaft of the reflector and sandwiching a plane orthogonal to the first side wall 174 in the first side wall 174 of the case 7 to form a wind shielding wall 44c between both the intake holes 44a and 44b.
