PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system which prevents detection by mistake of non-existence of a human body due to a shielding object and avoids turning-off of light when a person is inside. SOLUTION: When a person enters into a toilet [interior of room (hall)], a human detection sensor detects (senses) existence of the human body and outputs a lighting signal from a main remote control and lights a lamp and starts a lighting retention-time measuring timer. For each setting time, the human detection sensor detects existence/non-existence of the human body and the lighting retention-time measuring timer is reset and started according as it receives lighting signal in the lighting retention time and the lighting state is maintained. When a person enters a single room [interior of room (single room)], existence of the human body cannot be detected by the human detection sensor 11, but when a door 3 is closed and a key 9 is locked, a switch 19 is closed and an auxiliary lighting signal is output from an auxiliary remote control 10, and a lamp 5 is lighted and its lighting state is maintained.
