<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the impact absorbing efficiency of the front bodywork of an automobile more than conventional from the viewpoint of the measure to protect pedestrians. <P>SOLUTION: The front bodywork of the automobile has a cowl member 10 equipped with a cowl upper panel 12 furnished with a window supporting part U to support a windshield 3, a cowl inner panel 14, and a brace 15, and the impact load W applied to the window supporting part U is dispersed into the forefront edge of the cowl upper panel 12 and the tail edge when the cowl upper panel 12 crushes in the direction of the impact load W, in which the load dispersed to the forefront edge folds the brace 15 forward, while the load dispersed to the tail edge folds the folded part 14e furthermore while it presses the top of the cowl inner panel 14 backward, to cause the cowl upper panel 12 to make displacement in the direction of the impact load. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
