PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To register a sufficient number of items of collation data even when the storage capacity of a standard built-in storage part is relatively small. SOLUTION: A biological authentication device is provided with a storage part 220 for storing a plurality of collation data, a connection part 230 to be directly or indirectly connected to a storage medium 300 for storing the plurality of collation data, an authentication part 240 for executing biological authentication by comparing biological authentication information inputted from an authentication information input part 210 with collation data stored in the storage part 220 or the storage medium 300 and a precision changing part 250 for changing the precision of the registered collation data according to the connection of the connection part 230 to the storage medium 300.
