In some embodiments, the powered surgical instrument (10) includes a housing (12) having a proximal end (14) and a distal end (16), wherein the distal end (16) is configured to receive an expander (18) adapted to expand the tooth socket. The instrument further may include a user-adjustable actuator (22) disposed within the housing (12) configured to move the expander (18) from a first position to a second position, where the second position is linearly offset from the first position.
