PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a brake time of a rotary tray constant and to stop the rotary tray at a stop target position accurately independently of the number of recording media, arrangement, and temperature. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a rotary tray 101 having a plurality of slots, sensors 104a to 104d detecting position information of the slot and timing information at which the slot passes through, a rotary tray control motor 102, a storing means storing ideal timing information in which the slot is stopped at a stop target position in accordance with a position of the slot, and a control means in which the rotary tray control motor 102 is rotated so that a specified slot is stopped at the stop target position based on the detected position information, while drive force of the rotation drive is controlled so that the detected timing information approximates to the ideal timing information stored in a memory 116.
