<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of preventing image failure, cockles, or the like even if paper sheets are inadequately set. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming device is provided with a recording medium housing means for housing a recording medium, a supply means for supplying the recording medium to a conveying passage, a pair of width regulating means provided in the recording medium housing means to move in response to size of the recording medium in a direction crossing the conveying direction, a width detecting means arranged on the conveying passage at a position in a direction crossing the recording medium conveying direction to detect existence of, at least, the maximum conveyable recording medium, and an existence detecting means for detecting whether the recording medium is housed in the recording medium housing means or not.
