CURRENT FAULT DETECTION FOR LIGHT EMITTERS

A device and a method for controlling a light emitter thereof are provided to detect a defect by regulating current flowing through a current sensing resistance during a test mode by a current generator and detecting the time when the current flowing through the current sensing resistance gets out of a predetermined range during the test mode by a detection circuitry. A device includes a light emitter(110); a current sensing resistance(108); a current generator connected to the light emitter and the current sensing resistance to regulate current flowing through the light emitter during a normal operation mode of the device and control the current flowing through the current sensing resistance in a test mode; and a detection circuitry for detecting when the current flowing through the current sensing resistance gets out of a predetermined range during the test mode.
