PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of accurately folding a tatami mat facing by saving time and labor required for the folding work which can be performed even by a layman who has neither experience nor skill. SOLUTION: A tatami mat 1 is put between a plane 3 parallel to a knife edge and the knife edge of a tool 2 installed in a state where a force can be applied in a direction of the knife edge by applying the force to its side surface; its successive portion is caught in the side surface of the tool 2; the tatami mat facing 1 is nipped between the side surface of the tool 2 and a bar-shaped member 4; and the tatami mat facing 1 is bent by pushing the bar-shaped member 4 in the side surface direction of the tool 2.
