PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the channel selecting operation by changing the frequency recognition width of input signals. SOLUTION: The channel selector retrieves the frequency of a received signal to identify the frequency. The selector comprises: an AFT circuit (19) for outputting a frequency retrieving AFT signal from a signal corresponding to the received signal; a frequency selection control circuit for feeding a control signal for retrieving the frequency of the received signal to the AFT circuit according to a second frequency range, provided that the frequency retrieving range of the AFT signal is set to a first frequency range at an initial registration of the received signal, and set to the second frequency range at a usual reception after the initial registration; and a tuner 14 with the received signal frequency set by a control signal from the frequency selection control circuit.
