No space for storing a sunshade is left in the upper front area of the passenger cabin of some vehicle models. The sunshades (11, 15, 17, 18) are therefore attached to the rear mirror (1). The mirror unit (1) has a box-shaped housing (5) with the mirror element (6) attached to the front. One of the four sunshade elements (11) can be swiveled around the upper front edge (7) of the housing (5) and stored on its top (14). The second element (15) can be moved around the lower edge (8) and two lateral segments (17,18) can be horizontally slid out of and back into the housing (5).
