A boot (14) for a joint (10) includes a shaft-gripping portion (34), a joint-connecting portion (36), and a sleeve portion (38) connecting the joint-connecting portion (36) with the shaft-gripping portion (34). The boot (14) is adapted to dynamically roll about the sleeve portion (38) to a roll position (A, B, C) to form a roll surface (40) having a roll width (w_roll), wherein the roll width (w_roll) remains generally constant independent of the roll position (A, B, C). The boot (14) can be used to connect a shaft (16) to a joint portion (13) of the joint (10) and is adapted to allow shaft translation.
