The column has a hollow space (9) that is formed between telescopic inner and outer parts (1.1, 1.2) of the column and is minimized during movement of the column. A propellant of a pyrotechnical unit (5) is introduced into the hollow space such that the propellant forms an energy absorbent agent. Sliding and sealing units are mounted at the telescopic parts, and an opening and a controllable valve are arranged in the hollow space.
