A reed bed 7 that floats within an aeration pond 1 separated by a water impermeable liner 2 that is supported by buoyancy elements 9 and ballasted 10 in the centre to create a shape with outwardly inclined slopes so that any aeration generated air bubbles buoy up to the liner to the surface rather than trap and create air pockets under the liner. Polluted water enters the aeration pond for primary treatment and then flows in to the reed bed by a floating constant head/flow weir 11 for secondary treatment. Treated water leaves the reedbed for discharge from the system outfall.
|
