Engine with direct fuel injection in combustion chamber

The engine has a combustion chamber into which fuel is injected directly, and a loading device. A variable valve operating mechanism is provided for a charge-cycle valve to change the control timing of the inlet charge cycle valve. The opening period of the inlet-charge cycle valve is modifiable, and the control timing of the charge cycle valve is varied between the maximum and minimum values. An independent claim is also included for a method for the operation of an internal combustion engine.
