摘要 <p>A flat cell with inlet openings for immiscible fluids and at least one outlet opening for a combined fluid flow creates static interfaces between the fluids inside the cell. A device for generating fluid microcurrents or nanocurrents includes a face (delta D1) comprising a continuous line with a closed perimeter (p), A first solid surface (S1) connected to the face is impermeable except for openings which make up a maximum 30 % of the total surface area (A1). A second solid surface (S2) bordered by the face is also impermeable except for openings which make up a maximum 30 % of the total surface area (A2). Both of these total surface areas range from 1 square micron to 1 m2> and differ by no more than 30 % from each. The only contact points between the surfaces are located above the face and the distance between any point on the first surface and the second surface is less than 20 % of the total area of the smaller of the two surfaces. The space between the surfaces is left empty and has a low height to length ratio, so that a relatively flat cell is formed. Two of more immiscible fluids are injected into the cell via at least two inlet openings in the cell surface and exit via at least one outlet opening. The total outlet opening surface area is less than 0.3 times the total inlet opening surface area. Interfaces between the fluids inside the device are static and the surface tension forces are much greater than the rest of the forces.</p>
