A device and a method for controlling brightness of a display system are provided to carry out brightness control considering both environmental brightness and a remaining battery capacity together, thereby realizing dynamic flexibility and convenience. A device for controlling brightness of a display system includes a control part(240) for collecting environmental brightness data from a brightness sensor(220), which senses environmental brightness, and remaining battery capacity data from a battery pack(210), and outputting control signals for screen brightness control of a display system according to a selected mode. A brightness control part(270) carries out screen brightness control according to a brightness control range preset by the control signal of the control part, and the environmental brightness data and the remaining battery capacity data. A screen part(280) has a light source of which brightness is controlled by the brightness control part. |
