<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength variable optical source capable of varying output wavelength, and a wavelength division multiplexing optical transmission device using this optical source. <P>SOLUTION: The device includes an incoherent light source, which outputs incoherent light of wide band; a pass band variable filter with variable pass band for passing only non-interference light of narrow band of the passing band range out of non-interference light, which is generated from non-interference light source; a Fabry Perot laser diode for generating a wavelength in accordance with the wavelength of non-interference light if narrow-band non-interference light is injected from outside; and an optical circulator connected between a Fabry Perot laser diode and the pass band variable filter for transmitting the narrow-band non-interference light, which is entered through the pass band variable filter, to the Fabry Perot laser diode and transmitting the light from the Fabry Perot laser diode to the outside. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
