<p>An ultrathin carbon fiber is disclosed, which comprises a fibrous substance comprising tubular graphene sheets layered in a direction orthogonal to the axis of the ultrathin carbon fiber,
wherein the tubular graphene sheets include polygonal cross sections in a direction orthogonal to the carbon fiber axis, wherein a maximum diameter of the cross sections is in a range of 15 to 100 nm, an aspect ratio of the ultrathin carbon fiber is not more than 10 5 , and I D /I G of the ultrathin carbon fiber as determined by Raman spectroscopy is not more than 0.1. The ultrathin carbon fiber can improve, even in a small adding amount to the matrix, physical properties such as electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties of the matrix, without deterioration of the original properties of the matrix.</p> |
