The method involves initiating an evaluation of acceleration values by a collision event, and determining speed values and distance values from the acceleration values. The collision event is rated with respect to the acceleration values, the speed values and the distance values in one of the categories. The collision event is classified with respect to the categories, in which the collision event is rated with respect to the values.
