PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor having an undercoat layer that prevents concentration of a local electric field between a contact charging member and the photoreceptor and causes no leakage of charges even when the layer is thin. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor used for an image forming apparatus carrying out contact charging has an undercoat layer and a photosensitive layer layered in this order on a conductive supporting body, wherein the undercoat layer contains at least metal oxide particles and a binder resin, the metal oxide particles are subjected to a surface treatment with an organosilicon compound and the binder resin contains a nylon resin into which an alkoxyalkyl group is introduced. The organosilicon compound is preferably a compound expressed by general formula, wherein each of R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>independently represents an alkyl group and R<SP>3</SP>represents a group selected from a group consisting of alkyl groups and alkoxy groups.
