PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration in transmission characteristics, when the time variations in impulse response of a communication line cannot be ignored, and to decrease the operation quantity. SOLUTION: A map receiver includes an ML channel equalizing means 27 of performing channel equalization, by using an estimated value of a channel impulse response, its covariance matrix, and a detection signal in first repeated processings; a MAP channel equalizing means 28 of performing channel equalization, by using the estimated value of the channel impulse response; the covariance matrix; the detection signal, the temporary decision value of an encoded bit, and soft decision information in second and succeeding repetitive processings; and a sequential channel estimating means 34 of performing transmission estimation, by using the detection signal; a training signal; and the temporary decision value of the encoded bit output by the ML channel equalizing means 27 in the first repetitive processing and performing transmission line estimation, by using a hard decision value of soft decision information of the encoded bit, in addition to the detection signal, training signal, and the temporary decision value of the encoded bit, outputted by the MAP channel equalizing means 28 in the second and succeeding repetitive processing.
