An electron emission device is provided to improve a self-supporting characteristic of a spacer by forming a projected joint part on the spacer. A first and second substrates(2,4) are disposed opposite to each other. An internal vacuum space is formed between the first and second substrates. An electron emission unit(6) is formed on the first substrate. An emission unit is provided on the second substrate facing the first substrate. The emission unit includes a black layer(24) formed between phosphor layers(22). A plurality of spacers(28) are disposed between the first and second substrates. The spacer includes a wall body type main body(280) and a joint part(281) extended in a width direction of the main body. The width of the joint part is narrower than a gap between the phosphor layers.
