A frequency control apparatus and an information reproducing apparatus are provided to detect a frame synchronous pattern and accurately generate frequency information although a reproduction signal is not zero-crossed. A VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator)(20) outputs a clock having a frequency corresponding to a control signal. An ADC(Analog to Digital Converter)(15) samples an analog input signal having a certain pattern on the basis of the clock, and converts the sampled signal into a digital signal. A frequency detecting device(22) detects a candidate to be synchronously patterned from the change trend of the digital signal, generates frequency information for controlling a reproduction clock on the basis of the detected candidate, and outputs the frequency information as the control signal to the VCO(20).
