PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline storage battery having a current collector structure, in which welding can be completed before thermal cut damage occurs at a part other than contact portion of the current collector and an electrode, capable of preventing short circuits at the electrode group, and improved in reliability. SOLUTION: The battery has a current collector 10 of plate shape which comprises a body part 11, where a center opening 12 is formed at the center welded to the upper end part of one of electrodes of an electrode group wound into a swirl shape and a reed part 13, which extends from this body part 11 and is welded to the bottom of a sealing body that serves as a terminal of same pole as the electrode. V-shape grooves 14, which are arranged in radial shape from the periphery of the center opening 12 to the peripheral edge with the center of the center opening 12 as the starting point are formed in the body part 11. A linear projection part 14a, formed at the lower end part of this V-shape groove 14 is welded to the upper end part of one of electrode of the electrode group, and a slit 15 is formed at a part of the linear projection part 14a.
