PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic apparatus capable of being easily operated even if the display function is deteriorated or lost due to a defect such as failure of a display device, and to provide a control method thereof. SOLUTION: An operating unit 18 is operated by a user to output a signal corresponding to the contents of the operation to a control unit 13. The display unit 20 displays operation information etc. indicating the contents of the operation of the operating unit 18 by the user. A detecting unit 19 detects a defect of the display unit 20. When the detecting unit 19 detects the defect of the display unit 20, the control unit 13 controls a sound generating unit 15 to broadcast the operation information indicating the operation contents of the operating unit 18 of the user by sound.
