<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high-speed data transmission assuring frame/field accuracy by using an existing technology and device. <P>SOLUTION: A transmission side apparatus T selectively inserts video stream data and MPEG data into a video storage area to store video stream data in a frame structure of an SDI system, generates SDI data of which the identification ID indicating a type of data is included in header information, by an SDI data insertion processing device T3, and transmits the SDI data to a coaxial cable C from a transmission interface device T4. A reception side apparatus R receives the SDI data transmitted via the coaxial cable C by a reception interface device R1, extracts data to be transmitted from a video storage area of received SDI data and determines whether the data to be transmitted are the video stream data or the MPEG data by an SDI data extraction processing device R2 to output them.
