PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide removing method of a hard coating which suitably remove only a hard coating in a short period of time without changing dimensions of a product to be processed as much as possible through grinding using abrasives. SOLUTION: In the removing method of a hard coating, the abrasives having a density of 3 g/cm<SP>3</SP>or less, a micro hardness of 3,000 kgf/mm<SP>2</SP>or more, and a hardness higher than that of a hard coating, are jetted onto surface of the product to be processed with the hard coating formed of TiN or TiCN, etc. at a jet velocity of 50 m/sec or more or an injection pressure of 0.1 MPa or more, so as to remove the hard coating. The abrasives are fine particles, composed of B<SB>4</SB>C (boron carbide) having a density of 2.5 g/cm<SP>3</SP>, a micro hardness of 4,900-5,000 kgf/mm<SP>2</SP>, and a particle size of #150-#3,000, preferably #220-#2,000.
